Over the years I have tried multiple DIY at-home face masks. I’ve even made it my mission to find the perfect one: a mask that brightens and hydrates my skin. After trying out numerous recommendations, I *finally* found The One. And it only contains two ingredients that are probably in your kitchen RN.
This face mask is my go-to and gives me a gorgeous glow. It’s great to whip up for solo self-care Sundays and is also a skin-nourishing treat for pamper parties with your friends. Not only does it make my complexion instantly more radiant, but it adds some much-needed hydration and plumpness while banishing fine lines and dark spots. It is also loaded with antioxidants which help to protect the skin from environmental damage. Take about a real all-rounder!
Beauty on a Budget
Possibly one of the best things about this mask is how easy, and budget-friendly, it is to make. All you need are two common kitchen ingredients: honey and turmeric. Yes, you read that right! Both of these ingredients have anti-inflammatory properties, making them perfect for those days when your skin is puffy, red or irritated and needs some calming down.
Honey is not only a sweet addition to your late-night cup of tea or a tasty spread for your toast. It also happens to make for an excellent at-home spa treatment, thanks to its anti-bacterial, soothing and hydrating abilities. Turmeric – a popular spice commonly found in Indian cooking with powerful medicinal properties – also plays a huge role in this mixture. It helps to reduce the appearance of hyperpigmentation and scarring and gives your complexion that sought-after summer glow. Get ready to get sticky!
What You’ll Need
- A glass bowl
- 1 tablespoon of generic honey
- 1 tablespoon of turmeric powder
How to Make It
1. Add your honey and turmeric to a glass bowl and mix together until it becomes paste-like in texture.
Using clean hands or a mask-application brush, apply the mixture evenly to clean, dry skin.
Leave it on to do its thing for around 10 minutes, rinse off with water and enjoy your gorgeous glow!
TIP Turmeric is bright yellow and it can stain. A lot! This is why it’s important to use a glass bowl to mix your mask rather than plastic, which stains more easily.
It can also temporarily stain your face if left on for too long, which is why you should limit your masking sessions to a maximum of 10 minutes. It doesn’t take a long time to get radiant results!
